A Word for the Year...

I recently saw a thread on the 2 peas in a bucket message board about a scrapbook project to choose a word for the year and then to scrapbook about it. I read through some of the responses about various words that were chosen. Inspiring things like Believe, Dream, Breathe, Revive. It sounded like a fun idea but not something that I’d bother with. My scrapbooks are so far behind, I'm still working on Soprano's first year. I'm not spending time to scrapbook about a word. :)
Then I remembered that about a month ago, a friend said that they were praying that the Lord would direct me to a verse or passage that I could grab onto for the year. Well, I was praying for that verse or passage and Proverbs 3:5-6 came to mind. I was pretty sure that wasn’t it so I kept praying. And again the words came “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.” Nope, pretty sure that’s not it, Lord. Those are the verses that high school seniors put in their yearbook; they’re verses we say by rote and even know the reference for, not life-changing verses for me. And certainly not verses to think about all year! But after a few weeks of back and forth prayer, I think I finally got it that the Lord would like me to think about those verses this year.
2010 was a pretty rough year… it was draining emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Yet through all of the hard life circumstances, God was faithful. I’m not sure what He will bring into my life this year or what things He will allow to touch our family but I know that He is sovereign, He is good, and He is loving so I can TRUST Him with all my heart for all of it.
